Mr H.R. Shipes reports
Arimetco International's wholly owned US subsidiary, Arimetco Inc, which
filed a chapter 11 petition in the US bankruptcy court on January 2 1997,
was granted a temporary extension of the exclusive period in which to file
its plan of reorganization until May 13 1997, when the bankruptcy court
will hear Arimetco Inc's application to further extend the exclusive period
for a period of 90 days. The application is supported by the official
creditors' committee which was appointed in Arimetco Inc's chapter 11
reorganization case.
Arimetco has applied to the appropriate Canadian regulatory securities
authorities as well as the TSE for an extension from the requirement to
file and deliver to its shareholders, financial statements for the year
ended December 31 1996 by May 20 1997 and for the first quarter ended March
31 1997.
Arimetco intends to prepare and distribute the financial statements to its
shareholders as soon as possible after confirmation of a plan of
reorganization of Arimetco Inc and Arimetco Inc's emergence from Chapter
11.
