Hedge fund run by mad dog AGs!!

(Alexandria, VA) Public employees depending on state pension funds can be added to the long list of losers in the government?s protracted case against Microsoft, according to a study released today by the non-partisan National Taxpayers Union (NTU). State-level government employee pension funds in the states pursuing Microsoft lost over $38 billion following a federal court ruling against the computer firm. Ironically, the 19 Attorneys General pursuing the case claimed they were doing it for the "benefit of citizens."

"It seems that no one has gained from the antitrust case against Microsoft, except the government litigators who?ve lived off at least $35 million in taxpayer funds to pursue the firm in court," observed NTU President John Berthoud. "Consumers have always been skeptical of any benefit the trial may have had to them, and competitors who originally called in the attack dogs have been bitten themselves by an overall market decline. Now it appears state Attorneys General, in their mad dash to seek a Microsoft break-up, have finally delivered their first return to their constituents : massive state pension fund losses."
