I'd be very careful saying higher P/E's are justified because more traders are on-line , or for any other trader oriented idea. You're saying the stock price is higher because of demand, as if stocks are now a commodity and higher than historical P/E's are in that regard OK. I would never justify buying AMAT or any company based on this logic.
The reason I'm holding AMAT and will for some time is strictly based on the market outlook for semi consumption,the lack of capacity investment looking back 2-3 years, the move to copper et al, and the move to 300mm.
Finally, AMAT's position vs. their competitiors.
