Gus - we need to move beyond the computer industry analogies. Mobile phone industry is not a relative to the PC industry, not even a cousin.

The phone division is important to Nokia, because it drives the sales of WAP, GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth and W-CDMA products. We haven't yet seen the true price Nortel will end up paying for not having a handset unit. Operators want end-to-end solutions; they are buying GPRS from Ericsson and Nokia, because they feel confident about getting fully compatible handsets early. The same thing applies to the WAP server, software and support sales. And the rest of those standards.

There is no evidence that the profits are migrating to the chipset vendors. There is no single, dominant chipset company in the mobile market if you look at the entire global sales.

As far as GPRS not being able to compete with IS-95 upgrades is concerned - we'll just see about that. GPRS is strongly supported by all top five phone makers in the world. Phone volumes can be ramped up to tens of millions within 16 months. Once again - it's the volume sales that will drive the profits.
