Francis Drake, surely the importance of Gates/Ballmer to Microsoft can't be underestimated. However, I very much doubt the accuracy of the article. The Microsoft people I know are not cult-like and definitely don't regard Gates as infallible. There may be some element of more than required respect, but then who can blame them ? The employees have been one of the drivers for changing the world as we know it and have made money doing it. Since Gates deserves at least some credit for their good fortune, it is not unimaginable that they would admire him. However, the Press takes it too far!
