I think this marks the third time this quarter ADI has commented on the robust health of its business and the remarkable surge in revenue growth to expect this year. That's right, Jerry, keep pounding them on the head, they'll get it eventually!

Jerald Fishman, president and chief executive of Analog Devices (ADI: news, msgs), again stated that his company expects revenue to rise 50 percent in fiscal 2000 to roughly $2.3 billion. His company's greatest strengths going forward, he said, lies in its focus on the faster-growing communications market as the semiconductor industry shifts from signal processing to data processing. "We are in the right place at the right time," he said. Asked about what products they're developing in the joint venture with Intel (INTC: news, msgs), Fishman said the companies are working on a high-speed, low-power digital signal processing core for wireless appliances, which he expects to appear toward the end of the year. Fishman also said that the company is beginning to see evidence that its Othello direct conversion radio technology is being adopted and that he expects further Othello-related product announcements between now and year end. Analog Devices shares were recently up 2 1/8 to 78 15/16.
