It's truly amazing what seasonal and geographical variations will do in such things as rainfall. I recall that south of the area you're talking about there is a spot in India, that has for years had the distinction of the most rain per year of any place in the world. Can't remember the name but the annual average rainfall was something like 63 FEET, that's FEET not inches, for a daily average of more than 2 inches.

There was an old movie with Claude Rains in it, called simply RAIN, I think that showed what happens when the monsoon hits. Further north where it does tend to be dry the sight of the desert in bloom after one of those sudden storms is a sight to behold. Darn near got swept away crossing a river once wehn the level comes up so quickly, but the locals take it all in stride, they simply ganged up and dragged the vehicle out manually.

It's all a bit much going from 130 in the shade to your worst nightmare.

Cheers
