One major motivation for subsidizing food production rather than allowing the market to control prices, is that natural events are
unpredictable. A drought in California would force production of fruit and vegetables to move to other areas, but this might take
years to establish.

Are you willing to go without food for several years while the market works it's magic?

A drought in California would not cause me to have to go without food for several seconds let alone several years. The food production capacity of the earth is large and widely distributed and would be even without subsides.

p.s. Is anyone getting annoyed by these off topic posts? I find them interesting, but I could see how someone came here for information and insight about AMD would not want to spend their time going through the messages. Of course there is always the ignore button..
