Investor's Business Daily Standardizes on MTI Storage Solutions for
Enhanced Storage Capabilities

ANAHEIM, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 2000--MTI Technology Corp. (Nasdaq:MTIC), a leading provider of enterprise
storage solutions, today announced that Investor's Business Daily (IBD), a world-class investment newspaper with
headquarters in Los Angeles, has selected MTI as the standard supplier of its high-availability enterprise storage solutions.

IBD chose to standardize on MTI after it had conducted a competitive analysis of available products, with MTI emerging as
having the best value proposition, according to W. Scott O'Neil, publisher of IBD. "MTI offered a complete service and
support package that made them the clear winner," O'Neil said.

"The MTI solution gives us more bang for the buck. With our need for enhanced storage capabilities, we couldn't have
achieved our upgrade objectives with alternative solutions. MTI principals were involved from the outset, and they kept
every promise, met every deadline and simply delivered a better value for our storage investment."

MTI provided IBD with a scalable 1TB Fibre Channel-based, high- availability solution that can be modularly expanded as
the company's needs grow, while also providing an easy migration path to more complex storage area network (SAN)
technology. IBD is currently using about two-thirds of the system's resources without any downtime or data degradation.

IBD is using MTI's system for online transaction processing, as well as the company's circulation system, which includes all
subscriber information and histories. IBD's editorial archives are also stored on the system for internal use, and for the
company's new Web site to be stored as well.

MTI engineered its Fibre Channel storage solution to provide IBD with the two capabilities it desperately needed -- high
performance and high availability. With daily deadline pressures, IBD's editors cannot afford to have critical financial
statistics and research data unavailable to them.

O'Neil said that MTI's Fibre Channel storage technology has performed excellently, delivering continuous access to critical
projects with robust performance to easily handle large financial databases.

"MTI's storage solution screams," O'Neil said. "It holds huge files with no loss of data, and it provides access to data at
incredibly rapid rates. I can't recommend this system enough."

"Those looking for reliable business and financial information turn to a reputable publication like Investor's Business Daily
for its high-quality reportage," said Kevin J. Liebl, vice president of marketing at MTI. "And it is nice to see that when IBD
needed high- availability storage solutions to protect their corporate assets, they turned to MTI."
