AM Communications Announces New Management Structure
QUAKERTOWN, Pa., May 2, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- AM Communications, Inc. (OTC:AMCM), the leading supplier of network integrity solutions for the broadband industry, today announced a new management structure to enhance its position in the growing network management market. Effective immediately, AM's central engineering organization will be separated into two distinct teams: Hardware Systems Engineering and the Omni Software Business Unit.
Hardware Systems Engineering will be managed by Mr. Michael Quelly, AM's current Vice President of Engineering. In addition to providing engineering support for AM's traditional hardware products for outside plant, headend, and hub monitoring, this organization will focus on new technologies for the management of access networks and "last-mile distribution" beyond traditional HFC. Further, Hardware Systems Engineering will be responsible for ensuring all AM and 3rd party products adhere to a consistent set of specifications associated with AM's OmniStatTM Management Architecture. Finally, Mr. Quelly's organization will continue to represent the company in industry standards forums, and will drive standards implementation including the emerging SCTE/HMS standards for status monitoring.
The Omni Software Business Unit will be managed by Mr. Roger Jack who has joined AM as Vice President of Software Engineering. Mr. Jack brings to AM over 15 years of software development for QVC, Visio Corporation, Unisys, and General Motors, and has been published in Microsoft Systems Journal and Microsoft Internet Developer. As a business unit, Mr. Jack's organization is responsible for
Journal and Microsoft Internet Developer. As a business unit, Mr. Jack's organization is responsible for developing AM's core software products in addition to delivering custom software applications and services to AM's customers and technology partners. As the OmniStat Management Architecture is only one part of a complete telecommunications management environment, the Omni Software Business Unit will ensure that AM solutions are fully integrated with customers' other network management, decision-support, and operations support systems.
"Focus, responsiveness, and growth are the motivators for this new structure," said Harry Tankin, President of AM Communications. "The rate of technological and business change in the broadband industry requires our company to marshal resources and direct talent in the most competitive way possible. This structure allows each team to be successful, consistent with product, quality, and time-to-market goals, while at the same time providing complementary skills and expertise," concluded Tankin.
AM Communications, Inc. located in Quakertown, Pennsylvania is the broadband industry's leading provider of open systems for outside plant, headend and hub network management solutions. AM's solutions provide operators with greater control over their network's performance levels and reliability, giving them a competitive edge in today's deregulated communications environment. Through partnerships with leading network equipment and technology companies such as ADC, Alpha Technologies, Barco, General Instrument/Motorola, Invensys, Philips, Scientific-Atlanta, and Wavetek Wandel Goltermann, AM Communications has emerged as a true open systems company capable of supporting multi-vendor networks through cooperative engineering. Registered under ISO-9001, AM's 25+ years of quality, dependability, and service are key to designing, building, and implementing network integrity solutions for the broadband network.
