Growth in the number of Internet hosts is not growth in the number of users. And growth in users is not growth in
traffic. Traffic growth rates are likely much higher than those of hosts, as users spend more hours online, and as the
bandwidths consumed by new applications increase.


That is... growth for infrastructure equipment deployments can not be predicted by growth in DNS hosts. Furthermore the article assume Europe and the US is the entire world. Last I checked the two largest countries in population on the planet (India and China) are not in his study. Why? Because the numbers are too small right now to worry about. Is the assumption that this population will never "go on-line"??? I think that's a poor assumption. I dare say that the growth rate declines are an short term abberation and again, are no indicator of net traffic and deployment requirements... and to assume otherwise demonstrates a lack of understanding of the market and the technology.
