Nasdaq 100 thrown off by calculation glitch
NEW YORK, May 2 (Reuters) - The Nasdaq market said Tuesday a glitch in the calculation of the Nasdaq 100 index (^NDX - news) made the market barometer incorrect for the first 25 minutes of the regular trading session.

The problem affected third-party subscribers to Nasdaq data. Those watching the Nasdaq 100 index on Nasdaq's Workstation II suffered no impact.

``The Nasdaq experienced calculations problems that were related only to the Nasdaq 100 calcalation. The problems was in the Nasdaq Trade Dissemination Service data'' that is sent to vendors of Nasdaq data, according to Nasdaq spokesman Wayne Lee.

``The problem existed from the open at 0930 to 0955, so the Nasdaq 100 values during that time were considered suspect, or off,'' according to Lee.

Lee said the source of the problem was unknown, and that diagnosing the problem is underway.
