TORONTO, April 13 /CNW/ - Twin Mining Corporation ("Twin Mining") (TSE:TWG) is pleased to announce that kimberlite similar to that previously sampled at TORNGAT 1 and 2/3 has been verified at several points along the magnetic anomaly trend which reflects a more than 22 km principal dyke system. During helicopter-supported site selection for extraction of the multiple 10-tonne samples currently being extracted, coarse-grained kimberlite was found for the first time 5 km northeast of TORNGAT 1 and 2/3 in two 0.7 m to 1.3 m wide dykes along the prominent aeromagnetic anomaly which reflects the principal dyke system. These two near vertical dykes are approximately 15 m apart and, where they appear to converge, are interpreted from ground magnetics to be 2 m to 3 m in width. South of Alluviaq Fjord, along the 4.2 km most strongly anomalous portion of the system, investigative pitting at one site, chosen because of relatively little snow cover, has exposed coarse-grained kimberlite in a 3 m excavation across the dyke. The magnetic expression on the airborne survey map is narrower at this mid-point site than to the north or south. This width is more than 3 times that of South African dykes currently being mined. Dallas Davis, Director - Diamond Mining for Twin Mining, has named it the "Kakivuq" zone after the Inuit name for "a fishing spear, as the magnetic anomaly shows a straight and unbroken length which is visible from an elevated point and characterized by a widening at the base of two northerly prongs". Activities on the TORNGAT diamond property are progressing, with the first sample being excavated on TORNGAT 1 followed by TORNGAT 2/3. A representative of MPH Consulting has visited the property and initial sample transit point of Kangiqsualujjuaq to assure and control quality and the integrity of the samples at all times from their excavation to the processing site in Saskatoon. Twin Mining, in addition to exploring the diamond prospect on the east side of Ungava Bay in northern Qu‚bec, also holds a gold mining project containing reserves of one million ounces of gold and 3.2 million ounces of silver in Idaho, United States of America." |
