A concern that I have is that some of the inflation observed in various current economic numbers is the lagged result of an increase in the money supply prior to Y2K. That excess liquidity was drained after the beginning of this year.

If the lagged results of the draining and more interest rate increases simultaneously "hit" the economy, a recession may well occur. Not a pretty picture.
