I gave reasons which have nothing whatsoever to do with religion for viewing abortion as a criminal activity, a type of homicide. I am not a member of any denomination. I do not have a doctrinal stake in being against abortion. Just because there was a diversity of opinion about blacks, and some thought them sub- human, or perpetually childlike and in need of paternalistic care, or fit only for slavery, did not mean that it was impossible to dispose of the question, or that the banning of slavery was authoritarian, or a limitation of civil liberty. The fact that there are differences of opinion on abortion is meaningless as a matter of public policy, and only relevant to the legislative debate......
