Canada Payphone pleased to announce introduction of Desktop Grapevine(TM)

BURNABY, BC, May 2 /CNW-PRN/ - Canada Payphone Corporation is pleased to announce the introduction of the Desktop Grapevine(TM), a product which combines a pay telephone with Internet access and user friendly information services.
Developed by Elcotel Telecommunications, the manufacturer of Canada Payphone Corporation's successful Grapevine(TM) Network Terminal, the Desktop Grapevine(TM) can offer users access to sports scores, stock quotes, dinner reservations, e-commerce and email on its 5 inch, full colour screen. An additional data jack for laptops and PalmPilots(TM) will allow users to access their email while talking to someone through the phone.
The Desktop Grapevine(TM) has a variety of applications and will soon make its way into hotel and airport lobbies, restaurants, country clubs, student lounges and skybox suites. Like the Grapevine(TM) Network Terminal, the desktop Grapevine(TM) can be tailored to specific locations and users.

Canada Payphone Corporation will continue to see its revenues increase from advertising on the units' display screens. The screens provide a rotation of banner-type ads, giving an advertiser 10 seconds of screen time during the standard four minute phone call. The Company expects to have upwards of 7000 Grapevine(TM) Network Terminals installed throughout Canada in the next 12 months. The Desktop Grapevine(TM) will make its way into the Canadian market before the end of the year.
