* News flow out of Japan today that DDI, the third largest cell phone
operator in Japan, could re-commit to CDMA2000 standard is a psychological
positive for Qualcomm.
* Moreover, the financial impact to Qualcomm, should DDI choose CDMA2000 or
W-CDMA, is neutral as QCOM receives royalties from both standards.
* DDI's final decision on its 3G technology choice is expected by next week
as its files for a 3G license application.
* Motorola is likely to remain the prime network supplier to DDI because
MOT offers both CDMA2000 and W-CDMA network solutions.
