Ole 49r:
One unintended result of 117+/- portfolios, more or less publically displayed on this thread in the past trading/investment week, has been to DESTROY the SI search engine function using the filter of "this [G&K] subject only" for those 5 days, which is a very useful tool to some of us. Would you possibly consider future collections of this "portfolio submission data" via one PUBLIC solicitation post and request for PRIVATE Message Solicitations? Another variation would be to post a website of your own choosing, with a posted URL to this thread, complete with an e*mail html link.
Well, I wanted to take a little time to digest your comments, together with the rash of to' & fro' from the past 24 hrs. You have a tendency to "come on strong" such as in your ALL CAPS use of the word DESTROY.
Naturally, there was no intention to DESTROY the search capabilities, or even to merely hinder. No mention of this was made during the last Survey in November. Your comments about finding another way without hindering the search engine are valid, and I am glad you called this to our attention.
Others have correctly pointed out the benefits of continuing a future survey in the same fashion as before, the search engine notwithstanding. It is equally valid to observe the benefits of witnessing the "parade of portfolios". While there are some whose eyes may glaze, the public and private messages I have received lead me to believe that the Survey is more useful than not.
So, each perspective is valid, in my view. I would worry that posting to another thread would result in less participation. Part of any successful survey or research venture is making data acquisition as easy as possible for the participants or subjects.
So, I guess I'll have to think on this one for a spell. The next Survey won't be for another 6-12 months. It will be preannounced as this one was. Yours and others' suggestions at that time will be invited. By that time, hopefully the SI search engine will have recovered from UTTER ANNIHILATION. <g>
