>I saw something on a newscast this afternoon, that a long held belief by scientists has been proven wrong, and another theory has been proposed. It brought to mind that this sort of reversal by the scientific, and medical, communities which causes them to make such admissions about every 2 or 3 months. The main thing I say about this, is that we will all find out the truth in the end.<
Science provides me with both my paycheck and some of my deepest pleasures ... I stargaze as a hobby. What you have pointed out here is imo one of the most beautiful aspects of science when it is honestly advanced. "The truth will out", and if a theory fails under the pressure of scrutiny, well tough - it fails.
Allow me to say something in E's defense. I am emboldened to say I know her well enough to declare that she does not stand behind abortion-for-convenience. She recognizes that abortion is not a thing lightly or casually considered. Abortion-for-convenience is about as unlikely as amputation-for-convenience. The very term misleads; only pro-lifers applaud it because it assists in making abortion seem somehow frivolous; a lark. The issue here isn't abortion as a convenience, but whether or not a woman and her family have the right to decide for herself (fractured grammar, but I think you follow me here) what she wants to do. Imo a forced, unwanted pregnancy is more Draconian than the option of killing the embryo in the 1st trimester. And abortion is such a traumatic experience, one that leavers physical and psychological scars, that it is unlikely to soon become as trivial as a root canal.
Just my $.02, of course. |
