Chuck Re..<<<<<Let's check the track record:
Q2 '99 - no motherboards
Q3 '99 - very few motherboards/chipsets
Q4 '99 - motherboard shortage
Q1 '00 - KX133s are delayed and Athlon penetration curtailed
Q2 '00 - Unit shipments above 1.8M limited by infrastructure

I am sorry to be beating this issue to death, but it is hard not to see a pattern here.

Chuck; what pattern? The motherboard delays were mainly caused by an earthquake. Are you claiming Jerry should have foreseen it? Also delay in Via chipsets wasn't AMD'S fault; Via promised they would be ready by 4q-99, and they weren't, but is that Jerry's fault. You seem to think AMD has thousands of engineers loafing, doing nothing waiting for other people to do their jobs. AMD was then and still is short of money and talent to try to do everything. AMD has to rely on other firms products. I believe this reliance has helped far more than hurt Amd. By relying on Moto. Amd has copper process ahead of Intel. By relying on Via, Athlon has modern chipset ahead of Intels i820. By relying on API,AMD has modern buss. Why don't you drop your "AMD should do everything" mantra and look at the benefits of co-operation. Just look at where Intel is now without such a policy?

As far as Dresden and smp chipsets, these things take time. AMD as far as I know is on schedule according to AMD's roadmap. As far as I know you don't make AMD'S decisions, so expecting AMD to try to please you is asking a bit much. I would rather see product intro's that are engineered correctly, rather than see Intels problems. If you like products which are rushed out of the door, buy Intels stock; its cheap now precisely because of that.
