CHINA S SCHOOLS TO ADOPT EDUVERSE.COM EDUCATIONAL SOFTWARE
BANGKOK, May 2 Asia Pulse - Canadian online English as a Second Language publisher eduverse.com has signed an agreement in Beijing with the China Central Educational Technology Center (CCETC) to provide software to the country's primary and secondary school system, a statement said. The CCETC, responsible for introducing new technology to benefit China's educational system, operates directly under the Ministry of Education. Currently, China's schools have a student population of 220 million, 10 percent of which have access to a computer. Publicly-listed eduverse.com, whose Asian operations are run out of Bangkok, has developed a revenue model that allows corporations to place their advertisements in front of select student audiences. This system makes it easier for educational ministries and corporations to afford online learning systems, while enabling eduverse.com to acquire users at a cost far less than the industry standard, the statement said. Under the new agreement, the two groups will tailor the software to Ministry of Education approved course curriculum within the bounds of eduverse.com's business model, sharing the advertising revenues generated by the project. "This partnership will make eduverse.com one of the major suppliers of educational software to schools in China," said Mark E. Bruk, President and CEO of eduverse.com. Eventually, the partnership will be extended from select primary and secondary schools to the higher education sectors in China, the statement said. eduverse.com also has e-education partnerships in Thailand and Malaysia installing the ENGLISH PRO language tutorial software on Thailand's University Network and in Malaysia's SJK(C) Smart School Project.
