AM Communications Announces MCU Switch; For Improved Performance in High RF
Noise Environments

QUAKERTOWN, Pa., May 3, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- AM Communications, Inc.
(OTC:AMCM) announced the Model 9170 MCU Switch as an accessory to AM's 9903
Monitoring Control Unit.

The 9170 MCU Switch dramatically improves status monitoring system performance
in high RF noise environments. The unit is a small rack-mounted device that
expands the input capability of each Master Control Unit communications card to
accept up to 16 RF return inputs. A fully expanded Master Control Unit with the
9170 switches each of its 6 internal RF communications cards thereby accepts 96
individual or combined RF return inputs.

"The 9170 MCU Switch allows network operators tremendous flexibility in
deploying network monitoring and management solutions," said Harry Tankin,
President of AM Communications. "First, it allows the operator to provision the
status monitoring RF data carriers in the extreme lower portions of the RF
return spectrum, thereby freeing up valuable `revenue generating' spectrum for
other services. Second, the MCU switch allows operators greater flexibility to
increase the number of node serving areas to be monitored thereby potentially
reducing MCU equipment costs," continued Tankin.

AM Communications, Inc. located in Quakertown, Pennsylvania is a leading
