No, it means exactly what it said, I will not at the recommendation respond to Caroline. As to the "past nature" part, this is only pertinent to Caroline, me and the webmaster.
As for the "the facts," I read them and find it all interesting. Like other info I'm collecting, it's not making me happy to read it. But, I still want to hear from MZ, MR and others in exile to hear the other side. Would I believe them just because they said something? Be kind of tough, but I want to hear something viable said nonetheless.
I have no desire or need to vent here. It's not worth the effort for me, and I feel no compulsion to do public mea culpa. As one email sent to me said, this is "one door closing and another one opening." Learn from it, and move on. GIFS is an investment, like others. As I do with all my stocks no less than once a month (a piece of advise I read somewhere), I reviewed my notes on why I invested in GIFS (another part of the advise) in 1/97. My notes show that even when I first invested I did not expect significant price appreciation for at least 6 months, and any really spectacular reversal of its undervalued status for about 12-16 months. I did not let it get to be too big a piece of my portfolio. I didn't fall in love with the stock. I never had panacea delusions that it would give me a brass ring in a few weeks or a few months. I tend to avoid the "stock tip," although I've been titillated by them and loss a few $$ when my discipline has faltered.
What I have with GIFS is 2 things:
1. A tax deduction for 1997 (unless the lottery kind of odds kick on GIFS), and
2. The building of very valuable knowledge (also expensive) to apply to future speculative (OTC/BB and other) investments.
I have no plans to stop investing in speculative stocks -- OTC/BB or otherwise. I've learned some discipline. I've learned some things from the SI threads. And possibly, if my preliminary market research is validated, I have some valuable material for a seminar dealing with "Investing and The Internet."
