Don't know about WindowSI - but the Armada notebook is a business system, you want a Presario notebook for home use. I was in the market for a laptop for my son a ways back and looked at the Presario and DELL Inspirion. I was able to get the Presario, discounted quite a bit (I paid about $1800), at CompUSA, with better features than the equivalent Inspirion. The Presario had a bigger screen, twice as much RAM memory standard, twice as much graphics memory, and a bunch of standard software (Word, Excel, Money, Encarta). The Inspirion had Money and Encarta but not the Office apps - which for a college student were "must have" and would have added a couple of hundred to the cost.

The Inspirion had a longer standard warranty. I added 3-year "same day" take it to the store warranty for $129. I would much rather just take it to a local CompUSA and get it fixed, rather than box it up and ship it somewhere.

The Presario can also be run with either Win2K or Win98 SE, for the same price. Win2K is not available on the Inspirion as far as I can tell - at least it is not possible to configure it on the DELL web site.
