I really don't "have it in" for Corel but I definitely have given up on current management because they've done nothing but release pump pieces that are never followed up with any concrete results. The only positive here is that, given the exponential growth of this industry and the high prices for Microsoft Office, they have been able to tread water simply licensing the Office Suite they acquired from Novell.

Here's another one. Do you know whether they get 2 cents or 2 dollars for each unit? Does ABS sell dozens or hundreds of PCs? Do you think ABS selected Corel's office suite because customers didn't want Microsoft Office? There are thousands of these also-ran PC makers out there of varying size. They need to include software with their products and if they can get Corel's cheap and they are selling onesey-twosey systems to the home user, they will continue to dump product.

OTTAWA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 3, 2000--Corel Corporation (Nasdaq:CORL - news; TSE:COR. - news) today announced a deal with ABS Computer Technologies Inc. to bundle Corel© LINUX© OS OEM version and WordPerfect© Office 2000 for Linux© OEM version on its PCs.

BTW, the really slow and buggy Windows emulator version for Linux is still in beta the last I read. We can't even judge the product until they release it so they can't hide behind the beta wall if there are major bugs or it is like, way slow. I wouldn't waste my time or disk space installing it but I wouldn't mind reading a proper review or to of the final release.
