NAS-SAN Technology Forum Puts Storage in Perspective; Who's Who in Storage Networking Participate

LAS VEGAS, May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Connex(TM), a developer of Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) solutions, plays host to industry-leading innovators in storage networking at the NAS-SAN Technology Forum at the MGM Grand Convention Center, in Las Vegas, May 9-11.

Titled "Storage In Perspective," the NAS-SAN Technology Forum features demonstrations of the latest NAS and SAN hardware and software technologies, including the unveiling of the Connex Perspective(TM) storage management software architecture.

"The NAS-SAN Technology Forum offers attendees the opportunity to meet the people driving the SAN/NAS technology revolution and to get an in-depth understanding of the technology and business issues involved in successfully deploying storage networking solutions," said Bob Wilson, vice president, sales and marketing at Connex.

Connex will feature its storage networking hardware and software technology as part of a complete NAS and SAN enterprise solution, including its N3000 NAS appliance. The N3000 will be shown bridging the NAS-to-SAN gap while simultaneously connected to an Ethernet LAN and to a Fibre Channel SAN consisting of several types of Fibre Channel switches and disk arrays.

Forum partners and attendees will also be part of the Connex preview of the first product of the company's Perspective Architecture: SANavigator with SANmap(TM). SANavigator is a Java-based storage management application that operates as an enabler of other storage management applications, utilities and tools from vendors such as Legato, Veritas and Computer Associates. With the corporate need for both SAN and NAS appliances, SANavigator provides a critical management tool with its AutoDiscovery(TM) feature, which performs a complete inventory of all SAN and NAS resources, regardless of manufacturer type. The information collected by SANavigator is then presented by SANmap as a visual display of the entire storage enterprise, allowing an administrator for the first time to have complete central control for operations such as changing data paths to storage resources and creating or changing SAN zones. SANavigator is fully interoperable with other storage management applications and is utilized to launch operations such as serverless backup using third-party backup software.

The Forum will include the following participants and technologies:

-- Connex introducing SANavigator with NAS appliance (N3000)

-- Pathlight Technologies showcasing its SAN data gateways

-- Ancor Communications Inc. featuring its SANbox(TM) Fibre Channel in a

SAN environment managed by SANavigator

-- BellStor demonstrating its industry-leading SAN storage arrays

-- Grau Data Storage previewing its NAS interfaced Virtual Disk

InfiniStore(TM)

-- ATL Products exhibiting libraries for its NAS and SAN connectivity

-- Breece Hill highlighting its DLTape libraries connected to a SAN
