Ed. I am not going to be a teck source, but here is what I see of EMC. The people that work for them know how to put together a box that responds to the customer in a very personal way. There are two thoughts here. One is that everything is just a box of "iron" that can be bought and plug and play will use it in the system. The second is that systems are more complicated and to make them work at all you need special "connections." The only product that has value in the internet plays (.coms) is their data. Software, special chips, lots of memory storage, and a back-up system that preserves the company's valuable information is what EMC is about to me.

In the same box, store info to two memories. Have the capabilities to change from one to the other on the fly without interuption of the incoming process. Self-monitoring of the hardware and a phone conection to tell the box to switch memory source "NOW". Keeping all information safe and available without down time uses a lot of special tools. If you are like me you think of the "Iron" as being standardized turn it on and watch it play. If you are EMC, you know that practicalities are that more technical and reliable "iron" is needed by the customer.
