Very good points, PeggyLynn. Here are some Excerpts from Bloomberg article on buildout of wireless network in Europe.

quote.bloomberg.com

Nortel Networks Corp., which said it is in talks with British Telecom and other license winners about building their networks, expects phone companies may buy from two suppliers at once to ensure rapid delivery of networks, Nortel CEO John Roth said. ``They've got to get cash flow really fast, so there's tremendous pressure to turn these systems up quickly and start producing some revenue on these huge investments,'' he said. Other competitors for the phone equipment contracts include Motorola Inc. and Lucent Technologies Inc.

Nokia and Ericsson are the strongest competitors for the new
network contracts, Nortel's Roth said. ``Three companies are
really hammering it out, and then there's the rest.''<.i>
