PNLTV.com, The Business Council of the United Nations and the Economist Align to Webcast United Nations E-Commerce Symposium
PNL-TV.com to Produce and Air Exclusive Coverage of "The Net World Order Symposium" this July
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 3, 2000-- PNLTV.com, the broadcast news division of ProNetLink.com (OTC BB: PNLK - news), the Global Trade Internetwork(TM), today announced that, as part of an alliance of the Business Council of the United Nations and The Economist Magazine, it will produce special exclusive coverage of the United Nations Symposium on ``E-commerce and the Digital Divide: The Net World Order''. The broadcast will be hosted by PNLTV.com news anchor Bruce Blosil.
The Business Council for the UN (BCUN) will host a two-day symposium at UN headquarters on Wednesday and Thursday, July 12-13, 2000. The symposium is part of the follow-up of the UN-organized meeting of 54 economics and finance ministers from around the world that are coming to New York to discuss the role of information technology in the context of a knowledge-based global economy. ``The Net World Order: E-Commerce & the Digital Divide'' is being organized by BCUN in full consultation with the organizers of the UN ministerial meeting.
Participants in the July 12-13 conference will include IT firms, investment and venture capital firms, UN Ambassadors and senior UN Secretariat officials, as well as relevant multilateral institutions (World Bank, IFC, etc.).
``The UN increasingly wants to be perceived as an ally of the private sector in promoting economic growth and development,'' commented Bruce Blosil, News Anchor for PNLTV.com. ``Our coverage of this symposium will shed light on joint UN/industry efforts to bring all nations into the Internet age.''
According to BCUN President Sam Brookfield, ``Broadcasting this event on the Internet with PNLTV.com will allow us to reach viewers around the world and promote the scope of the projects that we are working on to ensure that all businesses and government leaders concerned with economic development in the new Internet economy have an equal opportunity for success.''
The program, featuring full coverage of all speakers and discussions as well as a special documentary overview, will be produced for broadcast and distribution worldwide over the Internet by ProNetLink.com and PNLTV.com, the Internet's first international trade news broadcast network. ProNetLink.com will also make the webcast available to other sites to host around the world. PNLTV.com's recent coverage of the Free Trade Area of the Americas Guatemala Forum and WTO Seattle meeting has earned it high praise from trade professionals.
``PNLTV.com is expanding its coverage of special events that effect the Global Trade market and we see this UN event as key to our expansion. We are very proud to be working with the United Nations and the Economist on this project'', said Jean Pierre Collardeau, President of ProNetLink.com.
Additional support for the Symposium and webcast comes from The Economist magazine, economist.com as well as other major sponsors.
