Sudan and Tunisia have agreed to restore relations and exchange diplomatic representation, Sudanese radio reported on Wednesday evening.

External Relations Minister Mustafa Uthman Isma'il said a joint statement would be issued tomorrow, Thursday, in both Khartoum and Tunisia. He said the move was achieved in contacts between the two countries' foreign ministers when they were in Cairo and Havana.

Isma'il described the restoration of ties with Tunisia as an important event and a great achievement that would contribute to supporting the two countries' positions in regional and international forums, particularly since Tunisia was a member of the current Security Council.

Isma'il said the restoration of ties with Tunisia was the last in the series of the restoration of relations with all the Arab countries, the radio reported.
