fvilli: Nice post on the FED. Perhaps I can expand a bit. Back in the early '70's FED Chief Arthur Burns and I went toe-to-toe several times. I contended that Arthur "allowed" the terrible inflation that culminated in a prime rate of 20%+ and gold running from $125 to 875...and really hurt people, and the economy. Arthur did not like me, after a while he refused to take my calls. (Lee)
