Weekly Jobless Claims = +20k to 303k
dol.gov In the week ending April 29, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 303,000, an increase of 20,000 from the previous week's unrevised figure of 283,000. The 4-week moving average was 277,500, an increase of 10,250 from the previous week's revised average of 267,250.
Q1 Productivity = +2.4% Employment Costs = + 1.8%
stats.bls.gov The Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor today reported preliminary productivity data--as measured by output per hour of all persons--for the first quarter of 2000. The seasonally adjusted annual rates of productivity change in the first quarter were: 1.8 percent in the business sector and 2.4 percent in the nonfarm business sector.
Unit labor costs rose 1.8 percent in the first quarter, after falling 2.9 percent in the fourth quarter of 1999. The implicit price deflator for nonfarm business output rose 2.3 percent in the first quarter, compared with a 1.9 percent rise one quarter earlier. |
