Dave / Thread: Interesting ruminations on YEEHAAWW!!! RMBS thread ref. potential impact of the T-Bird / MOBO problem: << The 820 problems caused RDRAM to stumble, this could undo all of that damage. Right now there are millions of KX-133 Athlon motherboards out there using only sdram. All of the users who will upgraded to the Thunderbird will now have to buy a new motherboard in 5-6 months - when RDRAM enabled Athlon motherboards will be on the market - giving RDRAM anthor shot at the only group they had been cut off from. BTW - I have seen carping from some tech pretenders who think that the typical Rdram requirement of a 6 layer board dooms the technology. Currently all of the videocards that are successfully using DDR are using 12 Layer boards. One wonders whether DDR will even work on a 6 layer MB - just a thought since no one has demonstrated it - the Micron test boards were also 12 layer.>> OK now, I have to go take a shower and clean up after rolling in the dirt today...<g> BP
