One of the things that's often not clear in these virus scares is whether the virus is activated when you open (i.e., read) the email, or whether it is not activated unless you click on an attachment within the email.

We all understand how a virus can be activated if you click on a link or download an attachment within an email....but is this one the same or is it somehow truly activated simply by opening and reading the email itself?

Thanks to everyone for helping with this question...
