I agree that the article is critical of VARL, however it should be read in the context that the author is a bull on VARL, and is using the example of VARL to support his thesis on the dilatory effect of options on high-tech and other companies who are using this method to reward employees to the detriment of shareholders. In the text of the article he does mention the simultaneous effect of the warrants that had been issued in conjunction with earlier financing and sets out criteria which puts VARL in the category of moderate offender going forward. This is a legitimate concern of VARL shareholders and hopefully, will be addressed in the immediate future. I think that most would agree that this is an easier problem to solve for management than where do we get business or how do we make margins respectable?
