I sent this as a private message to Bryan Burdick, but feel strongly enough about it to post it here as well.

Oh WOW, Bryan, this is so SICK:

When creating a New Subject, the originator will also have the option to classify the New Subject as a Moderated Subject. In short, a Moderated Subject allows the originator to prevent other specific members from posting messages in that particular Subject, sort of like a Subject-wide ignore. All Moderated Subjects will be denoted as such on the main Subject Page, and the Subject originator has the final say on blocking members from a specific Subject.

Newsflash: SI is not gonna regain its edge by imitating the Worst of RB. What SI's gotta do is offer products and services that RB doesn't offer. I don't see catering to those who want to play Little Hitler as a positive development.

Cute that you call this new offering "controversial". I call it "oppressive". And I don't think it's cute at all. First you changed the format that no one had ever objected to. Then you added an ignore button: copying RB. Now you sanction Bund meetings at a site that once catered to intelligent adults. Once again, copying RB.

Well, they say imitation's the sincerest form of flattery. But is RB what SI wants to be?

Think about it, Bryan. SI came out ahead in the Forbes survey. SI is taken more seriously by the press than are RB or Yahoo. But keep this up and that won't last.
