When I first started trying to get DSL, I was going through an ISP called Phoenix Networks. They told me I could get 208kbs both ways (SDSL) for $49/month. Then they come back and said my distance was too far and said they wanted $79/month for IDSL at 144 kbs. I said no thanks. That same day I call up Flashcom and they say $39/month and 384/128 kbs. Both used Rhythms so I don't know why one would be able to do it and the other couldn't. I think the ISP's have certain agendas sometimes and push whatever equipment they have more of. In Phoenix's case, they must have wanted the higher margins of IDSL. Who knows. Good luck with your DSL quest.
