Tumbles of this magnitude can be frightening to the novice investor. Don’t invest in any small company, or any large company, past the level that keeps you awake at night. I can’t tell you what the stock will do in the short term; it just seems to me the long-term opportunity looks exceptionally bright for WIND and I don’t see any earnings or, more important, revenue surprises even in the near term. On a fundamental basis, the stock should be a buy as a core holding.

I was guessing that venture capitalists are substantially exiting with the secondary offering. I have not seen the prospectus. I also was responding to Peter’s observation that there was some insider selling.

The managers receive attractive option packages to make them stakeholders in the company’s future. When the price goes up substantially over a period of time, they can realize additional income (after cost and taxes) by exercising options. Since they often have more coming, some of them consistently sell some of their holdings.

This stock selling by management is usual, on-going and is not correlated with future performance of the company. At least it never has been. Nor would exiting by venture capitalists be a negative indicator. They usually exit as soon after IPO as practical.
