KL, rather than looking at the monetary base, i recommend to look at broad money supply measures like M3 and MZM. those are simply exploding. last week we had one day with reserve adds of 28 billion dollars. it's as if we were in the midst of a financial crisis...i must admit i don't understand at all why they're doing this. in '94 they reigned the money supply in a bit...not this time. btw, government spending has set upon an explosive expansionary path as well lately. i conclude from all this that we will get even more disturbing evidence of accelerating inflation soon. the ECRI gauge of future inflation has hit a fresh 11 year high.
