Bob Chamberlain, who is also senior vice president of the Internet traffic and content management company, said he believes F5 stock is down about 12% Friday as a result of the $5.7 billion combination of the two F5 competitors.

"Cisco is our main competitor, and I guess people are assuming it will be tougher competition for us," Chamberlain told Dow Jones Newswires in an interview.

But Chamberlain said F5 already competes with Cisco between 45% and 50% of the time and with ArrowPoint 4% to 5% of the time.

"I don't think it provides any more competition," Chamberlain said. "We continue to compete effectively against Cisco and ArrowPoint.'

He said the combination of Cisco and ArrowPoint validates the overall value of this niche in the Internet market. F5's products monitor and manage local and geographically dispersed servers.

Chamberlain said the company continues to have strong orders and "we continue to move ahead with our strategy that we think is very strong."
