This nonsense only happens because Microsoft software is such total crap. I'm dead serious - we're seeing the results of deliberate past design decisions on the part of Msft to make it nearly impossible to develop reliable shared software. All the key decisions in Windows and WNT were made when Gates et al wanted nothing to do with the internet. Everything was to be locked into stand alone desktop systems, hence no thinking was done to develop the kind of clean, reliable, secure, layered architecture needed for the future. Well, we now see the results. Microsoft should be the target of a class action lawsuit for the incompetent design that has made all these viruses possible.
