DJ,

I listened to the c.c. yesterday and I was impressed by the breadth of the customer base and the fact that the telecommunications industry is a primary source of revenues for Alliance. It would seem that there will be ongoing growth in this market segment for the foreseeable future.

I was a bit perplexed by the delay in flash memory fabrication since Alliance has so much untapped fab space and some experience in flash memory manufacturing. There was mention of some technical difficulties which are solved. They appear to be concentrating in low density flash solutions in the range of 4 and 8Mbit. Isn't this segment of the market fairly crowded? Has the CEO given a structured plan for entering this market?

I am very surprised that not a single analyst bothered to ask this question or any questions regarding ALSC's entry into the flash memory market whatsoever.

I am very happy the core business is profitable and that ASP's and gross margins are firm or improving, but without a clearly charted course for growth in core competencies I fear that ALSC will continue to trade at a discount to its equity holdings.

I hate to say this (because some loser always has to bring up this possibilty), but with available fab capacity and a rich investment portfolio it would appear that ALSC is an attractive takeover candidate. Clearly, I would rather see the core business broaden and advance. Are anti-takeover measures in place?
