NR - Earth (Canada) Corporation - New Application Developed With Petrobras & Genflo

MONTREAL, May 5 /CNW/ - EARTH is delighted to announce a break-though
application system for cleaning ``Oil Polluted Beach Sands'' has been
engineered by Petrobras (PETR3.SA) combining EARTH's RPA(TM) and Genflo Jet
Pumps.
This successfully tested solution allows for the ``localized'' treatment
of oily sands from swamps, beaches, lakeshores, and waste basins. This
application uses Genflo's off shore units to pump and wash the polluted sands
and the generated oily water is treated using EARTH's proprietary RPA(TM)
water filtration system.
This process allows oil to be recycled and the clean sand to be returned
safely back into the environment without having to be disposed of or treated
off site.
This exciting and practical solution opens a new and important market for
EARTH's RPA(TM) filtration system. The combination of the RPA/Genflo
technologies is the world's first ``localized'' cleaning treatment of oily
sands.
The unqualified success in cleaning Guanabara Bay, Brazil, has led to a
decision by Petrobras to use this same process at other sites; such as Sergipe
& Bahia States, with an estimated 1 million barrels of residue.

ABOUT EARTH'S PATENTED RPA(TM) TECHNOLOGY:
- No waste is created during treatment and none needs to be disposed of
- It allows full recoverability of sorbed oil, including emulsified oils
- Through centrifugation, it is probably the only reusable hydrocarbon
absorbent, making it economically and environmentally friendly to use

RPA(TM) is manufactured by Environmental Applied Research Technology
