Company Press Release

Metromedia Fiber Network to Provide Optical Infrastructure to ITC^DeltaCom in Three Major Markets

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 3, 2000--Metromedia Fiber Network, Inc. (MFN) (Nasdaq: MFNX - news), the leader in deployment of optical Internet infrastructure within key metropolitan areas internationally, will provide fiber optic infrastructure in the Dallas, Houston and Atlanta markets for ITC^DeltaCom, Inc. (Nasdaq/NM: ITCD - news), a regional integrated telecommunications provider.

Under a 20-year lease, ITC^DeltaCom will gain access to MFN's fiber backbone in the three cities. MFN's fiber will enable ITC^DeltaCom to control its capacity in the last mile, while meeting increased traffic levels and customer demand for high-bandwidth services.

``ITC^DeltaCom's decision to interconnect their 10-state, long-haul network with MFN's fiber-optic infrastructure enables them to deliver the most sophisticated applications to customers in the local loop over a dedicated, secure and reliable network,'' said Nick Tanzi, president and chief operating officer of Metromedia Fiber Network.

``Securing dedicated fiber in key strategic markets in the Southeast has become necessary as a result of our growth,'' said Andrew M. Walker, vice-chairman, chief executive officer and president of ITC^DeltaCom. ``This agreement with MFN affords us the opportunity to quickly address our capacity demands by connecting directly to other telecommunication carriers, Internet access providers, and local exchange central offices.''
