gypsy, while waiting for mark to reply: I would take the Windows98 CD and start it. I believe it will ask if you want a clean install, i.e. reformat the hard disk first.
There I'd say yes.

The memory can be installed later when Win98 is installed.
Then ask mark how to keep the disk from getting glommed up again. He may just recommend Norton Utilities. :)
