Unfortunately, G* is limited to 200 miles of land... so Inmarsat has nothing to worry about. One exception, far North Atlantic (the Titanic Zone).

Brazilian farmers are a larger market than "drill rigs" most of which have frac T-1's for telemetry and SCADA.

One other high growth area targeted by Boeing is inflight internet with those cute Datron tracking antennas.... unfortunately the 9600bps limitation of G* rules them out of that market too....

And about those 7 cent per minute costs ??? According to G* figures, this is for a FULLY LOADED system... so the figure of 850-1100 currently billable phones drives that cost per minute figure into the stratosphere.... more like $435.00 - $710.00 per MINUTE at the present time...
