I think CBSMarketWatch and others somewhat miss the point. It seems that a number of us here cannot even control things locally -- all hell will break out when people try to get an E*Trade phone operator to explain what happened to the German trade he thought he made. No, for us the benefit will be the increase in liquidity of our own domestic stock as it becomes available for trade globally. This will have an important effect on our trading, say EGRP, overnight. Its so thin right now that its a joke, but when the Asians and the Euros come in, 24-hr trading of domestic stock will become more realistic. I also expect more volatility since the float will remain the same. Personally I have always seen volatility as the traders -- and even investors - friend, and I'm always amused when the commentators complain about it.
