News release: Octel Unified Messenger continues to rack up industry awards; Octel Unified Messenger receives best Email/Voice Mail integration product award at NetWorld+Interop Las Vegas show
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE) via Individual Inc. -- Octel Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:OCTL), the world's largest provider of voice messaging solutions, announced today that Octel Unified Messenger was given Network Computing's Well-Connected Award for best Email and Voicemail integration product.
The product was chosen for its innovative single message store, single directory, and single administration, the only truly unified messaging systems on the market today. The award is the third such industry award that Octel Unified Messenger received since announcing the product in February.
Well-Connected Award winners were announced at a special dinner held by Network Computing at the NetWorld+Interop show in Las Vegas. Octel Unified Messenger will be highlighted in the May 1 issue of Network Computing and also on Network Computing Online at networkcomputing.com . Octel Unified Messenger previously won top ranking in a competitive evaluation of unified messaging type products in Network Computing's March 15 issue, the only unified messaging product to score an "A-".
Octel Unified Messenger is the first application to combine voice and electronic-mail messaging in a way that benefits both the end-user and the systems administrator. While today many network administrators manage several separate systems (voice mail, e-mail, LAN and WAN), Octel's open client/server solution combines voice mail and e-mail into a single system sharing a common directory, administrative application, and message storage platform, reducing the overall cost of ownership. The first version of the product works with Microsoft Exchange, a Microsoft Windows NT-based client/server messaging platform that is gaining widespread acceptance.
"Our Network Computing editors worked at length to research and test the best products in the networking arena," said Patricia Schnaidt, editor-in-chief, CMP's Network Computing. According to Schnaidt, "the products singled out in the Well-Connected Awards are unique because they are not a measure of popularity -- they are quality products tested over a networked enterprise firsthand by editors themselves. So we know that Octel Unified Messenger is truly an innovative solution."
