Guy,
The AcerBasic is not an internet box. It is a full fledge PC, only without
harddisks and 1.44FD - with Zip in place. This is the whole selling point
of the AcerBasic over internet box. Instead of just having a dumb internet
box, people can have for $500: a fully working PC, an internet terminal,
and a nintendo/genesis-type game box for the "kids". I suppose one can
also network this internet PC to your other standard PCs. I think the
original internet box design will never fly because of the AcerBasic.

I see that the Pippin @World brand has now followed Acer 's footstep and
offer Zip as an option in their internet box. I expect all other internet
box designers/developers to follow Acer 's footstep. They just can't
afford not to.

I am truly excited about the potential market for these "home PC
appliances". I believe that Acer and Bandai are not only targeting
the internet box market, but also the TV arcade games being dominated
by Genesis, Nintendo, Sony. This can be one new huge market for
Zip disks.

My feeling is that because of the combinations of several very useful
features, this $500 PC will a huge hit with folks with young children.
