Perhaps the increased number of Athlon advertisements recently is related to the upcoming TBird release?

With the Dresden floodgates about to open, now is the time to crank up the volumes of 900-1000MHz processors and AMD needs to flush the channels of existing Athlons. Perhaps they are selling the soon-to-be obsolete inventory at a discount? There also seems to be higher availability on the gray market.

I think that the "GHz effect" has not been fully realized yet. I predict that the volume of GHz Athlons sold will increase exponentially with decreasing price.

Willy could be the spanner in the works, but any slip in the schedule and Intel are really in trouble. Why do I feel so confident? Any guesses what the excuse will be this time? "Timing problems" again?
